The first annual 2nd Lanark Explorer Brass Monkey Expedition took place during the weekend of 27th - 28th February.
In some of the best snow and ice conditions in recent times the Explorers pitched tents at Spittal of Glenshee, cooked some food and then went into Glenshee to try tubing, ice axe skills, winter mountaineering and extreme sledging prior to returning to the Spittal to warm up and chat about the exciting activities undertaken.

22nd February traditionally marks Founders Day, the birthday of Scouting's founder Robert Baden-Powell for the 28 million members of Scouting. Normally celebrations for this take place on the Sunday nearest and this year was no exception with members of the Group attending a celebration of Scouting at Greyfriars Church in Lanark.
Members of the Lanark Scout Group were joined by local Guides to mark this year’s Founders Day as it falls into the centenaries of both 2nd Lanark Scouts and GirlGuiding UK. The service was a vibrant affair aimed directly at the Young People with many Scouts and Guides taking part in leading the service as well as a puppet show and a special song written for the local Guides.
The picture shows some of the members of the Group after the service.

Congratulations to 2nd Lanark Cubs on coming 3rd in the recent Clydesdale District Quiz. The team answered questions correctly on everything from the Human Body and Planets through to Disney Films and Sport. In the end they were only 1 ½ points from the winners and all of the team had a great day.
Thanks to Clydesdale District for running the event and Douglas Scouts for hosting it. |
