What is Scout Network?

Scout Network is the fifth and final section of the Scout Association and is for young people aged 18 to 24 years old. Once you become a member you automatically become a member of all Scout Networks across the UK, not just within Clyde Region. Membership is flexible and our members take part in Scouting in many ways such as: member of a local network, leader of a younger section, student at university, skills instructor or member of scout fellowship, or a combination of the above!

How does Network operate in Clyde Region?

In Scotland Networks are run within Districts. We have eight districts in Clyde Region. District networks are managed by District Network leaders. Click here to find yours ###### As a network member however, you are welcome to attend any network and any number of networks. Network members come from all backgrounds and have a range of scouting experience some of our members have moved up from Explorer Scouts and some who have never been in Scouting before. Some have grown up in Glasgow and Lanarkshire, whilst others have moved here to study or work.

What sort of activities are there?

Lots!
As we are the oldest of the Scouting sections, we have the opportunity to try out some great adventurous activities such as hill walking, rock climbing, sailing, mountain biking and canoeing. We also like a gentler life and enjoy bbqs, quiz nights, and bowling. Through our programme members can gain nationally recognised qualifications e.g. for watersports and mountaineering, Duke of Edinburgh Awards and of course Scouting’s top honour – the Queen’s Scout Award. For more information on awards click here ####

Scouting is truly international. So members of the Scout Network have plenty of opportunities to meet and work with scouts from around the world. Some of our members work at international camps within Scotland, others travel further afield and take part in World Scout Moots (jamboree for 18-24 year olds!) or are staff at World Scout Jamborees. They also can do their Explorer Belts in any country they choose.
We also believe in giving something back to the community and also in Scouting, so we occasionally undertake service projects which can be wide and varied. Some of our members are also Scout Leaders with younger sections such as Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers.

One of the best bits of being in Scouts is of course, going camping. Camps can be help locally for just your district network or you can take part in any of the national network camps held all over the UK. Scout Network is run by the members so the list of activities is endless. What would you like to do??
